The "International Conference of Academic Institutions" was organized by the Education Department, Government of Gujarat in association with the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, as part of the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022 on 5th & 6th January 2022 at Vigyan Bhavan, Science City, Ahmedabad.

They provided a platform to academicians, researchers, and students around the globe to deliberate on diverse perspectives of the NEP - 2020 and its role in Transforming Higher and Technical Education. The event comprised keynote addresses by invited dignitaries, panel discussions, presentations, signing of MoUs, Cultural Programmes, and an Exhibition showcasing flagship initiatives of the Education Department.

Exhibition at International Conference of Academic Institutions (2022)

The Conference hosted a Vibrant Exhibition which provided a platform to showcase the strengths and exemplary contribution of various institutions in the field of Education and Skilling. The Exhibition was the right platform for higher education institutions to network and develop mutually beneficial relationships. The institutions who attended the exhibition had an opportunity to promote their brands amongst professionals in the field of Education & Skilling. The Exhibition provided unique opportunities to both national as well as international exhibitors from the higher education ecosystem to learn and explore the future trends in higher education & research.

Students and staff of TeamLease Skills University were one of those institutions that actively participated in the global summit with their stalls and became a part of various themes and sub-themes.

Objective of the conference

The objective behind the International Conference of Academic Institutions was to initiate thought-provoking discussions and presentations on remarkable initiatives in education. Deliberate implementation of Education Policy to draw upon national and international best practices and create a roadmap for Institutions of Higher Education Sign functional MoUs for strategic partnerships in academics.

Dr. Avani Umatt, Provost (I/C), TeamLease Skills University, was the one of the guest speaker at the conference. She shared her views as a distinguished speaker during the Vice Chancellors’ Conclave on Building World-Class Universities with an interactive audience of almost 3000.

In her keynote address, she spoke on various aspects of skilling and making India job ready including NEP. Here is an excerpt from her speech.

“The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP), when implemented, will be transformational for India. Among other reforms, it provides a logical path to promote convergence between the education and skills systems. The Policy is designed to integrate development of skills in the education system, and to integrate knowledge in the skills system. While the NEP talks about optimal learning environments and support for students, it also sets a target so that at least 50 percent of learners should be introduced to vocational education across both school and higher education systems by 2025. and Focus areas for vocational training will be identified on the basis of gaps identified in demands by the market. So how do we as a Skills University enable the merger between education and skills to ensure skill based education and ...the answer, the way forward is Work integrated learning or Apprenticeships embedded higher educational programmes, where students learn in a combination of classrooms alongside gaining required industrial hands-on experience.”
